If you are a parent or a grandparent and intend to visit Canada to be with your children or grandchildren, you can apply for a super visa. Successful applicants receive multiple-entry visitor visas that may last for up to 10 years.

Unlike a normal visitor visa which only allows you stay in Canada for six months, the super visa allows you to stay in Canada for up to two years.

Eligibility For Super Visa

1.You must be either the parent or the grandparent of a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada.

2.You will need a signed letter of invitation from your child or grandchild which should include the following:

    • An undertaking that he or she will support you financially for the duration of your stay in Canada.
    • A list stating the number and names of the persons living in their house.
    • A copy of his or her Canadian passport or PR visa.
    • Proof of having obtained medical insurance from an insurance company in Canada that provides a minimum coverage of 1, 00,000 CAD and is valid for at least a year from the date of entry and is fully paid for.

3.The parent or grandparent must also take a medical examination to show that they are not a health threat to residents in Canada.

Documents Supporting Proof Of Funds

The child or grandchild who issues the invitation will need to prove that they earn the minimum necessary income. The following documents can be submitted for proof of funds:

1. Notice of Assessment (NOA) or T4/T1 for the recent tax year
2. Employment insurance stubs
3. Employment letter including salary and date of hiring

4. Pay stubs
5. Bank statements
